2014 Honda Accord Hybrid - June 21 in Japan start selling next-generation flagship sedan Honda Accord with a hybrid power plant. The car promises to give its owners are not only better fuel efficiency, but also new feeling of control.
Today the market, Honda will launch a hybrid version of just two: normal and with the ability to recharge the battery from the city’s power supply – “plug-in”. And if the first hybrid with a two-liter engine will be able to spend a hundred kilometers around 3 liters of fuel, the second – only 1.7 liters. This low fuel consumption is possible in the event that the driver will closely monitor the battery level and charge them in time of power grids.
Another important factor that plays a positive role in reducing fuel consumption, has been the introduction of a new power plant control system – i-MMD (intelligent Multi-Mode Drive) or “intelligent multi-gear.” We are talking about controlling the operation of the engine and the electric motor depending on the speed requirements.
Sports i-MMD, mounted on Japanese Chords, allows the driver to select three profiles of the power plant. For starts and leisurely acceleration, and movement at low speeds the car uses only the electric motor and batteries. To set the speed Accord connects the gasoline engine, but only so that he powered the generator, which in turn “scatters” electric motor “untwist” wheel. And finally, for driving at high speeds i-MMD system uses only the internal combustion engine, transmission time to the drive wheels via the transmission variative.
Note also that the electric motor is able to develop, if necessary maximum torque right from the start the car, and the work of the whole system i-MMD provides further strong acceleration, combined with the peace and comfort.
Structurally, the system i-MMD complexity is no different. Among its significant sites, we see the newest high-performance two-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 143 hp, the variation of the transmission with integrated motors (power and power generation), and the clutch, directly connected to the petrol engine, and a block of lithium-ion batteries.
According to the plans, Honda will sell a total of 1,000 new 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid in Japan a month.
